How guests use Hostigram
How do guests access Hostigram?
Guests receive a unique link or scan a QR code provided by their host. No app download or account creation is needed, the assistant opens directly in their phone's browser. Alternatively, guests can text the hosting service's WhatsApp access code to +1 (612) 400-7319 on WhatsApp to connect with Hostigram via WhatsApp instead.
Can guests use WhatsApp instead of the web chat?
Yes! If the host has set up a WhatsApp access code, guests can text that code to +1 (612) 400-7319 on WhatsApp. They'll be connected to the same Hostigram with the same knowledge base, just through WhatsApp instead of a browser. A direct wa.me link is also available on the guest entry page and in shared emails for one-tap access.
What can guests ask Hostigram?
Guests can ask about anything the host has added to the knowledge base: WiFi passwords, check-in procedures, local restaurant recommendations, transport options, house rules, appliance instructions, and more. Hostigram provides instant, accurate answers 24/7. When relevant, Hostigram may also share Action Links, contextual URLs set up by the host, such as booking forms, restaurant menus, or local guides.
How do guests receive updates from their host?
Guests see a notification bell icon in the chat header. When the host broadcasts an update (e.g., 'Pool closed for maintenance' or 'Welcome drinks at 6pm'), it appears as a notification badge on the bell. Tapping the bell opens a panel showing all updates, with unread items highlighted. Updates can be marked as 'Normal' or 'Urgent' priority.
Can guests install the app on their phone?
Yes! After opening the assistant link, guests will see an option to install Hostigram as an app on their phone. On Android, tap 'Install' when prompted. On iPhone, tap the Share button and select 'Add to Home Screen'. No app store needed.
Is my data as a guest secure?
Absolutely. Guest conversations are encrypted and only visible to the property host. We don't sell or share guest data. Conversation data follows a graduated retention policy, see the Security & Privacy section for details.
What languages does Hostigram speak?
The guest chat supports 14 languages. Three primary languages, English, French, and Spanish, have full native UI translations. The other 11 (German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, and Hindi) are supported by Hostigram for replies, while the surrounding chat UI stays in English. Guests pick their language from the language selector in the chat header at any time.
